Blooming out of Season

In spring, bright flowers attract hummingbirds,
As they brighten the path to warm summer nights.
Red Buckeye trees should not be blooming in October.

Dark pink clusters contrast with gray fall skies.
In fall, spring blooms awaken us only to change.
Autumn is time to drop leaves, not weigh down branches.

V. Ferrier

On a warm fall day, I noticed new spring blooms on the ornamental tree in my front yard. As an urgent Climate Conference is set to begin in Glasgow, Scotland, the flowers are to me a personal and urgent indicator of environmental change.
