Summer Ends

sun and moon at night

Shrill sounds of sirens mix with cicadas.

Sirens signal danger of collision
As pandemic lingers.
Warning all to keep apart.

Cicadas loudly call for connection.
Once dormant underground,
Urgent now, life cycles ending.

Many compelled return to swarm.
As a new wave surges to crest,
Masked beings gather again.

Sirens continue while cicadas go silent.
