Daffodils Bloom

daffodils

Trumpet-like blooms emerge.
Harbingers of spring overcoming obstacles of cold winter.
Sun-like symbols of creativity and strength,
They inspire, pause for remembrance, and urge forgiveness.

Yellow is the sign of caution too.
Foraging squirrels leave poison bulbs alone.
Tulips and roses do not belong in the bouquet.
Daffodils block water from reaching their tender stems.

Daffodils fill vases alone or pair only with irises,
Delicate yellow and purple floral petals of hope and courage.

Narcissus looks only upon himself,
While Iris provides an escort from earth to heaven.

V. Ferrier
